  1. RMCS is founded

    Rocky Mountain Claim Staking(RMCS)decisively involved itself in Front Range real estate, dealing with all of the exigencies and complications that arise at the intersection of private and public property use.

  2. RMCS BECOMES FOUNDRY BUILDERS

    RMCS moved into property development and took the name Foundry Builders when it developed a beautiful set of 14 home sites in Gilpin County, CO, outside of Central City. These homes were designed to preserve the wildflower corridors with which the properties sites were lined, ensure the kind of idyllic that mountain living can offer, and give homebuyers incredible opportunities to enjoy Gilpin County’s stunning views of meadows, forests and wildlife. Known as Prospect Point, these homes represent Foundry Builders first entry into development and our first success.

  3. 2006 - today

    Spanning from 2006 to today, Steel Ranch is Foundry Builder’s pride and joy. The site for the development was pieced together over a period of years. Where 156 single-family homes, 54 townhomes, 24 paired homes, 228 apartments (and soon-to-be 32 luxury condos, 21,000 square feet of commercial space and 19,000 square feet of flex space for the community) now sit, Foundry Builders worked for years with multiple homebuilders and sellers to develop a truly unique community. Though Steel Ranch was constructed and sold in the deepest depths of the financial crisis, it proved to be the most successful development during in all of Colorado, and one of the most successful developments in the nation during the Recession. Steel Ranch is a multimodal living experience; with numerous different types of homes, it is a vibrant and truly flourishing community. Without even mentioning how we we worked in close collaboration with the city of Louisville to form the Takoda Metropolitan District and guarantee the kind of high-quality infrastructure that we demand for our developments, Steel Ranch was a major achievement and promises to evolve into something even more impressive.

  4. Foundry acquires key land parcels

    Foundry Builders acquired the first pieces of what eventually became DeLo in 2010, hoping to provide housing to those looking to be near Louisville’s projected FastTracks station. Shortly thereafter, the station was declared prohibitively expensive, and our investment was put in jeopardy. We applied the lessons we had learned during the turmoil of the Recession, partnered with the City of Louisville and formed an Urban Renewal District (URD). The URD helped us secure the $12,000,000 of infrastructure now in place at the 14-acre DeLo site. This represented a major undertaking and achievement both for us and the City of Louisville, a city that stubbornly constrains its housing market to manage its population: we have been the only major exception to this tendency. The DeLo lofts are finished, the apartments will be completed and inhabited by mid-September and the commercial space will be complete and occupied by November.

  5. Present Day

    The history being over, let’s turn to the present. Beyond DeLo, we’re undertaking two other major efforts. The first, in Erie, CO, is known as Four Corners—it’s the first major development approved by a city that expects its population to nearly double in the next ten years. There will be 500 homes of different product types and 115,000 square feet of commercial space. As with DeLo, we’ve made an Urban Renewal Agreement with the City of Erie (the property is afflicted with blight conditions) and, to guarantee high-quality infrastructure on the site, we’ve formed a new metropolitan district and reached a public finance agreement there too. In Longmont, Foundry Builders is working toward a 25-acre project along the St. Vrain River, situated less than a mile from Main Street. Continuing our streak of excelling under adverse conditions, just after we signed the contract for the property’s development, the 500-year biblical flood of 2013 ravaged much of Colorado, including our property and the adjacent river habitat. We named the property Rivertown, and worked with the City of Boulder, to whom the property was then annexed, to restore the area, build a new bridge, and remove the property from the floodplain. Rivertown is one of the most exciting pieces of Foundry Builders’ future, and, truly, that future is an exciting one.
